The 1st annual Walk for Hope on Saturday, May 31 was a huge success!
Thank you to all who financially supported, attended, and volunteered to make this event so much fun.

It doesn't stop with the Walk of Hope. With breast cancer affecting so many lives, Among the Flowers has made breast cancer awareness our company charity. In June, 2007 we made the first step in making this commitment by donating 10% of our sales to two organizations that reach out to those who are affected by this vicious disease. We were able to raise $15,700 that was divided equally between local Donna Hicken Foundation and the nationally recognized Vera Bradley Breast Foundation for Breast Cancer.

Again, during the month of June, 2008 we are pledging 10% of our sales to these two worthy causes.

Call us at (800) 514-6089 to place your orders.

Another way that you can help with this worthy cause, is to buy a bow for $25.00 and we will put it in our "Garden of Hope". Do it as a memorial for a loved one, yourself, or just as a donor. We will label your ribbon and you will be listed as a donor on our web site. All donations are divided equally between The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer  and The Donna Hicken Foundation.

Our decisive comment was made easy with these two highly respected organizations:
 Vera Bradley Cancer Foundation
The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer, an incorporated 501 (c)(3) entity wholly independent from Vera Bradley Design, Inc., is committed to eradicating breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by providing financial support for breast cancer research and research-related projects.

Through an alliance with Indiana University, the Foundation has worked to secure the best breast cancer research team in the nation. The Indiana University Cancer Center now plays a leading role in advancements toward early detection and targeted therapies. Vera Bradley has pledge $10 million to support the research team’s efforts, of which they’ve already raised nearly $6 million.

Vera Bradley donates 10% of net proceeds from the sale of their breast cancer fabrics to the
Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer and other breast cancer programs and services each year.

In addition, the company provides in-kind support for Foundation operations. In 2007 alone, Vera Bradley’s support came to more than one million dollars! Click on http://www.verabradley.org for more information.

Donna Hicken breast Cancer Foundation
Donna Hicken, a two time breast cancer survivor, and a highly recognized and respected Florida First Coast television anchor woman, launched The Donna Hicken Foundation after her own battle with breast cancer. The Foundation raises money to be used for First Coast women living with breast cancer, who, for whatever reason, can't make ends meet. Each recipient is screened to ensure that funds are dispersed for those truly in need. The Foundation makes checks payable directly to the mortgage company, the utilities carrier, the doctor’s office, etc.

Be sure to visit Donna’s web site at www.donnahickenfoundation.org. Donna gives inspiration, humor and realism through her journal. There are several great resource links on her site for additional information.
